What is Pilates?
The Pilates Method was created by Joseph H. Pilates and his wife Clara during their 60 year search for the perfect exercise program. Today, you’ll find Pilates being offered in hospitals, universities and private studios all around the world. It’s a full body workout practiced by millions for both fitness and injury post-rehabilitation.

By combining core strengthening with stretching, coordination, control and balance, Pilates sessions work to reshape and re-educate your body, creating long, lean muscles and strong, flexible joints, improving postural alignment and establishing functional movement patterns.

Joseph Pilates wasn’t boasting when he wrote, “In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference. In 20 you’ll see a difference and in 30 you’ll have a whole new body.”

Laura Karpinski

Laura Karpinski received a B.A. in Dance from North Carolina School of the Arts and danced ballet professionally for several years before graduating from the Pilates Center’s Teacher Training Certification Program in Boulder, CO.

Laura taught at Pilates Aligned from 2004-2020, where she was a senior staff member and the studio office manager. For over 16 years, she worked with Cara Reeser and staff at Pilates Aligned.

Years of experience and hours of continuing education have made Laura skilled, empathetic and effective when working with conditions such as chronic pain, arthritis, scoliosis and low back pain, etc. She also has a long track record of helping clients restore function after spine, hip, knee and shoulder surgeries.

Since 2012 and continuing presently, together with Cara Reeser, Laura has proudly been involved in co-teaching The Kathy Grant Heritage Training®– a year-long graduate-level continuing education program for Pilates instructors. The program has over 300 graduates who teach all across the world.

Laura is a Pilates Method Alliance member, a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates Teacher (CPT), and NPCP Continuing Education Provider.

In addition to her Pilates education, Laura has been a long-time student of yoga. She received her RYT 200 Yoga certification in 2013 at Root Yoga Center in Denver, CO with Amy Baker and Keri Bergeron.

As a self proclaimed “body nerd” who is continually reading and learning, Laura brings years of education and knowledge of movement, alignment, anatomy, and Ideokenesis to her Pilates and Yoga students.

“I love to teach my clients how to relax and have fun with all movement (even challenging movements and postures), as well as have new and positive experiences with their bodies while gaining strength and flexibility in body, mind, and spirit. I believe that one-size does NOT fit all and that each individual calls for different approaches and unique solutions when the body is getting in the way of enjoying life. I believe and trust in both Pilates and Yoga as safe, supportive, and healing practices which can profoundly transform one’s life!”

In sessions and classes with Laura, you can expect to gain knowledge about proper alignment and the latest scientific research specific to your body; receive intuitive adjustments and smart cuing that help you understand the purpose and importance of exercises and movements; connect to your strength; gain confidence in your movement potential; and learn to move in a playful way that is not only helpful but also brightens your spirit!

Laura practices being physical and present in her body through her own regular practice of Yoga and Pilates, and is an avid long-distance road and gravel cyclist. She also enjoys being outside hiking, camping and paddle boarding.
